Brazil vs United States Preview

Brazil are preparing for a rematch against United States at the Confederations Cup final in Johannesburg on Sunday.

The South Americans were in complete command during their Group B encounter nine days ago, easing to a 3-0 victory in Bloemfontein, thanks to goals from Felipe Melo, Robinho and Maicon.

With the two-week tournament set for its climax at the Ellis Park Stadium, it is the North Americans that now seem to have all the momentum heading into the final.

After sneaking into the knockout stage with a 3-0 win over Egypt in the last group game, they then turned in a gladiatorial effort to dump the world number one side Spain out of the competition with a 2-0 triumph to seal their date with Brazil, who looked out of sorts as they eventually overcame hosts South Africa 1-0 in their semi-final.

And the turn of fortune by Bob Bradley's men has been closely watched by his opposite number as they now ready themselves for a second meeting.

"The game against the US in the group stages was different," he said. "Now they are more consistent and tomorrow will be different.

South Africa vs Brazil Preview

Joel Santana is focused on guiding South Africa to the Confederations Cup final despite the hype about his battle with his countrymen.

The Bafana Bafana boss is highly regarded in his homeland and is one of only a handful of coaches to have won the league title with the four clubs - Botafogo, Flamengo, Fluminense and Vasco da Gama.

However, he has played down the fuss, calling for full support for the host nation ahead of the clash with the defending champions in Johannesburg in tomorrow's second semi-final.

"I am 100% focused on Bafana Bafana," he said. "My work is in Africa. I respect the opponents, but I don't really care about them because I am now with Bafana Bafana.

Spain vs. USA Preview

Spain will attempt to claim their place in the Confederations Cup final when the take on the United States in Bloemfontein.

The European champions have already broken one world record during their stint in South Africa, with Saturday`s 2-0 victory over the host nation not only seeing Spain progress through Group A with a 100% record but also extending their run of successive wins to 15.

That saw them move one clear of Brazil, France and Australia, who all jointly held the former record along with the Spanish.

Saturday`s win also extended Spain`s unbeaten run to 35 matches, drawing them level with Brazil's world-leading mark that was set between between 1993 and 1996, and Vicente del Bosque`s side can take that record for their own tomorrow as well.

Spain are huge favourites to continue their remarkable form against a United States side that created a big stir in battling back from the brink to qualify from Group B, but midfielder Xabi Alonso is not taking anything for granted.

"If they are here it`s because they have deserved it," said Alonso, who was part of the Spain side that ground out a hard-fought 1-0 win over the US in a friendly last year, Xavi scoring the only goal 12 minutes from time.

Cesc Fabregas has asked Spain to keep their feet on the ground ahead of their second Confederations Cup game against Iraq on Wednesday.

The European champions moved top of Group A after they romped to a 5-0 victory over New Zealand on Sunday and a win against their Asian counterparts in Bloemfontein will seal a place in the semi-final.

Vicente del Bosque's team, who are unbeaten since 2006, will also be looking to move a step closer to the world-record mark of 35 games unbeaten set by Brazil between 1993 and 1996 - they are currently on 33.

Arsenal ace Fabregas, though, is not looking too far beyond the group stages, admitting that the initial priority will be getting past the Iraqis and hosts South Africa.

"There's still a long way to go," he told www.fifa.com. "It's true that our first game was easier than we thought, but it's a long tournament, and there are some excellent teams to come.

"We know we're favourites but we've got to be wary going into these matches. We saw the game between South Africa and Iraq before travelling to the stadium.

"We're very confident but we have to remain composed. We'll be taking the remaining matches extremely seriously."

Fabregas was one of the stand-out players in their tournament debut against the All Whites, setting up the opening goal for Fernando Torres, who scored a hat-trick, and then himself getting on the scoresheet with the fourth Spanish goal.

He added: "We played really well. It's always important to start with a win and that's just what we did. It was a great way to set the ball rolling, and I hope that from here we can improve with every game.

"We realise that this is just the beginning and that there's a long way to go in the Confederations Cup."

Like La Roja, the Iraqis also raised many eyebrows after holding the home side to a goalless draw in the tournament opener in Johannesburg.

Asked about how he was going to prepare his team for the match against the world number one team, Iraq coach Bora Milutinovic responded: "That's a very easy answer. When you play against Spain, you don't need to have any preparation.

"You need to know against who you are playing. You need to know the opposition and you need to be happy to be playing one of the most important teams in world football. You need to put in your best effort and say 'okay, we are going to play football'."

The Serb was thrilled with the way his side performed against the hosts, saying that the point gained was now a big boost to their semi-final chances.

"The point is very important," he said. "Our goal is to try to win every game and even though we did not win against South Africa, we still gained a positive result.

"It gives us a chance of qualifying for the semi-finals."

Watch USA vs Italy FIFA Confederations Cup 2009 Live Stream

Italy have not lost to the US in over 75 years of competitive football. However, Bob Bradley’s Americans are hoping to spring a surprise in the two sides’ opening match of the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup in South Africa.

The match
USA-Italy, 15 June, 20h30 (local time), Tshwane/Pretoria

Defending world champions Italy face a potential banana skin in their 2009 Confederations Cup opener against reigning CONCACAF kings the USA. The Americans are currently in a rich vein of form, losing only twice in their last 13 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ qualifiers and fresh off a come-from-behind win over Honduras just seven days ago. The Italians, though blessed with world-class talent throughout the team and on top of European Zone qualifying Group 9 for South Africa 2010, have not played a competitive match since 1 April.

Italy will take heart from a pair of friendly wins since arriving on South African soil, a 4-3 result against Oceania representatives New Zealand and a 6-0 rout of a local Pretoria XI Select squad. The Americans, for their part, arrive in Africa with a strong, youthful squad. Coach Bob Bradley, who took over from former mentor Bruce Arena after the failures of the last FIFA World Cup finals in Germany in 2006, has assembled a team bristling with spirit and optimism, if a little short on experienced campaigners.

In nine meetings historically, Italy have never lost to the USA. The two first met in the opening game of the 1934 FIFA World Cup, where Italy ran out 7-1 winners. The last clash between the two ended in a 1-1 draw, in Kaiserslautern at Germany 2006.

The FA has confirmed that strikes will not result in England's game against Andorra being played behind closed doors.

Football Association chief executive Ian Watmore has confirmed threatened industrial action will not result in England's World Cup qualifier against Andorra tomorrow being played behind closed doors.

London is set to grind to a halt this evening with tube workers beginning a 48-hour strike,

The strike will have a massive impact on travel, with England's Group Six qualifier among the worst affected.

Wembley has always encouraged fans to travel on the tube network, but the FA has refused to alter their plans in the face of what is certain to be major disruption if the strike goes ahead.

"The game will kick off at 8.15 as planned tomorrow," Football Association chief executive Ian Watmore confirmed.

"It will not, repeat not, be played behind closed doors."

mfl

The FA took the decision last week to halt ticket sales at 70,000 for tomorrow's game and have held discussions with Brent Council and the Metropolitan Police to find the best way to deal with the situation.

"Since the threat of a tube strike started last week we have worked very co-operatively with all those parties involved," Watmore added. "I'd like to thank them for their help.

"Supporters should plan to travel as early as possible. The turnstiles will now open earlier, at 5.45pm, to limit disruption.

"Supporters attending should be prepared that, due to the planned industrial action, travelling in London will not be straightforward, and they should expect a disrupted journey."

Watch Colombia vs Peru FIFA SouthAmerican Qualifying Football live streaming

No choice but a triumph

Colombia are compelled to defeat Peru in round 14 at the South American Qualifiers if they want to keep fighting for a place at the 2010 World Cup. The team coached by Eduardo Lara hope to rout already-eliminated Peru in order to keep a little chance to get fifth spot at the South American Qualifiers and face a playoff against a CONCACAF fourth-ranked team.

Colombia rank eighth with 14 points, ten less than leaders Brazil and Paraguay, and three less than fifth-ranked Uruguay; on Wednesday, they will host Peru in Medellin in a bid to put an end to their goal draught, which turned out to be their biggest sin at the Qualifiers.

Coach Eduardo Lara will try a revamp at the offensive, especially after the 1-0 defeat to Argentina in Buenos Aires; the press think he will include Carlos Darwin Quintero (Santos Laguna, MEX) and Hugo Rodallega (Wigan, ENG) in detriment of Radamel Falcao Garcia (River Plate, ARG) and Wason Renteria (Braga, POR).

As for Peru, they are at the bottom of the standings with just 7 points; therefore, they have no chance to go to South Africa next year.

The Peruvian, which were stronlgy criticized by the press after losing 1-2 to Ecuador in Lima, will count on Once Caldas top scorer Johan Fano.

Del Solar's men just won one game at the Qualifiers (against Venezulea); lat time they met Colombia, they drew 1-1.

Probable lineups:

Colombia: David Ospina; Amaranto Perea, Ivan Ramiro Cordoba, Mario Yepes, Pablo Armero; Camilo Zuniga, Fabian Vargas, Freddy Guarin, Macnelly Torres; Carlos Darwin Quintero, Hugo Rodallega. Coach: Eduardo Lara.

Peru: Raul Fernandez; Amilton Prado, Carlos Zambrano, Alberto Rodriguez, Walter Vilchez, Rainer Torres, Paolo De la Haza, Luis Ramirez, Juan Vargas; Johan Fano, Paolo Guerrero. Coach: Jose del Solar.

Referee: Carlos Simon (BRA)
Venue: Atanasio Girardot.
Time: 7pm ET.

watch football Newcastle vs Middlesbrough live streaming

Middlesbrough vs Newcastle

Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate will be at odds with former England team-mate Alan Shearer when the pair meet in a do-or-die battle at St James` Park on Monday night.

Shearer, who took on the task of dragging Newcastle out of the Barclays Premier League relegation zone last month, admitted on Thursday the latest Tyne-Tees derby is the biggest game of even his illustrious career.

But while victory for the Magpies would take them out of the bottom three after Hull's home defeat by Stoke, Southgate insists the crucial contest is only the most important because it is the next one.

Full-back Andrew Taylor returns to Boro`s squad after recovering from a hip flexor problem.

However, skipper Emanuel Pogatetz will miss the rest of the season with the knee injury which has sidelined him for the last four games, and Chris Riggott (ankle) is also still out.

Southgate said: "It's pointless going back to games you have played in the past.

"You would have to question whether this is bigger than the game where we had waited 128 years to win a trophy - you have to question whether it is bigger than a European final.

"But, because it's the next game and the task ahead of us is to stay in the league, yes it is - but last week's was and next week's will be.

"There's a sense of perspective in that. We love to hype matches - this obviously has tremendous importance for both teams, and other teams at the bottom of the table, but there are still two more games to play after it.

"If we win, we still need other results to get ourselves over the line."

Southgate and Shearer won 120 England caps between them, many of them together, and were part of the team which came agonisingly close to reaching the final of Euro '96, with the defender missing the crucial penalty in the semi-final shoot-out with Germany.

Southgate then captained Boro to Carling Cup glory in 2004, and led them out out for the UEFA Cup final in Eindhoven two seasons later.

However, while the prize at stake in the remaining three games of the campaign might be more modest - at least in non-financial terms - he has ordered his players to relish the challenge.

He said: "It's very difficult to put into that context, really, because they are chances to win something and be part of history that will be forever remembered by your supporters.

"This is a different sort of challenge. But the one thing I would say is you should relish that challenge."

Newcastle defender Habib Beye has urged his Newcastle team-mates to adopt Shearer's winning mentality to hand the manager a first victory just when he needs it most.

Joey Barton begins his three-match suspension after being sent off at Liverpool on Sunday, while Alan Smith is a major doubt with a thigh problem.

Left-back Jose Enrique is struggling to shake off his hamstring injury, but central defender Steven Taylor (ankle) has returned to training after two games on the sidelines and could figure.

The Magpies face their derby rivals knowing a first three-point haul since February 7 would lift them above Hull on goal difference and out of the relegation zone with just two games to play.

They are equally well aware that the alternative is simply not an option, and Beye knows the time has come to deliver a maiden victory in six attempts for Shearer.

Beye said: "He is still strong, when he is playing with us in training, he is still really strong, and he is a winner.

"You can see when he plays all the small games sometimes with us, he wants to win every game, and that's the mentality we must have.

"He has done a great job for us with [assistant] Iain Dowie. I believe we will stay in the Premier League and I hope for the club he will stay next year and bring something good for the next year."

Shearer's continued presence on Tyneside - he has insisted all along that his return to St James' would last just eight games, although there is a growing feeling he is ready to commit himself for a longer period - will depend on a series of factors, although relegation or otherwise may not be one of them.

But in the short term, the only focus is on avoiding a drop which would have been unthinkable just a few years ago as the home-grown talisman led the fight for honours on the pitch.

And a derby win would at least give the club the springboard they so desperately need.

Shearer said: "It would be massive, without a doubt. It would give everyone a huge lift confidence-wise, belief-wise."

Sheffield United`s Matt Kilgallon has warned the Championship play-off winners will be decided by whichever team holds their nerve The former Sunderland man missed last weekend's home win over QPR due to a one-match ban for his red card in the victory at Birmingham the week previously.

He is expected to go straight back into the starting line-up after withdrawing from Scotland the B international against Northern Ireland in midweek in order to prepare for the Blades showdown.

On-loan Watford midfielder Lee Williamson remains absent and will miss both legs of the semi-final due as he serves a three-match ban.

The 25-year-old endured play-off final heartache with Leeds at the Millennium Stadium against Watford in 2006, while Blades team-mates Leigh Bromby, Chris Morgan and Darius Henderson have been involved in previous play-off campaigns.

Kilgallon told the Star: "Everyone knows what's at stake. They are massive occasions.

"I've been there before and they are very tense because nobody wants to make a mistake. Everyone, every single player out there is like that.

O`Hanlon missed the final two games of the regular season after picking up a knee injury against Walsall and while he is back in training he is expected to miss out.

His absence is a big loss for manager Roberto Di Matteo and means utility man Jude Stirling will have to fill in alongside Miguel Angel Llera in the centre of defence.

Winger Jason Puncheon missed the 1-0 defeat at Hereford last weekend with a slight ankle problem but is fit enough to return while top scorer Aaron Wilbraham should also start at Glanford Park.

Wilbraham was rested for the trip to face the already relegated Bulls but will lead the line alongside Sam Baldock. Fellow forward Ali Gerba is likely to again miss out thanks to his knee injury. The Dons boss has made no secret of his ambition to lead his charges to a third-place finish, but his side currently sit four points adrift of fourth placed United. Calderwood admitted a win at Tannadice would do his side's European hopes a world of good.

Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink has admitted that second place in the Premier League is now his target after a midweek draw with Everton left his temporary charges six points adrift of leaders Manchester United.

The setback had led many to assume that Chelsea would rest key players for Saturday's trip to West Ham with one eye on next week's Champions League semi-final first leg in Barcelona.Hiddink would not be drawn on whether Gianfranco Zola, the former Chelsea favourite who has impressed as West Ham boss, would be a good candidate to take over from him next season.

"I see potential," said Hiddink. "I haven't seen the younger managers working, but I see some guys who, when you have a conversation with them or they appear on television, come across very intelligently.

"Zola is one of the guys who can make this change to being a manager. But I also see some English managers.

"Everyone has to start at high levels sometimes. One can need 500 games and might not feel he's suited for that job. Another one less.

"I haven't seen him (Zola) working. I see him from the outside. He's a very intelligent man. He was a brilliant footballer, a very intelligent man and player, and I think he likes to learn a lot still. But I cannot judge whether he's capable of managing Chelsea now.""We have some options," said Hiddink. "Everyone knows that, in the squad, we don't have double natural coverage for the left-back position, so we have to improvise.

O'Neill stormed on to the pitch at the full-time whistle to remonstrate with referee Mike Riley, who the Villa boss later claimed to have missed a foul on Ashley Young in the build-up to the winning goal.

He said after the match: "The officials also got three offside decisions wrong when we were clean through."
"We have to focus on it being difficult and our concentration will be the key. I hope we don't need an alarm bell to before we start playing well."

Hiddink is likely to make minor adjustments to the side for the visit of Bolton but will resist the temptation to rest a players.

Liverpool have maintained their status as a domestic and European force since the Premier League began in 1992, rarely finishing outside the top positions. The club have won seven major trophies since then, including the Champions League, Uefa Cup, two FA Cups and three League Cups.

Indeed, 2001 saw the Reds claim an unprecedented League Cup, FA Cup and Uefa Cup treble. Having won more domestic and European trophies than any other English club, Liverpool's status as giants of the domestic game is undisputed.

Chelsea's interim coach Guus Hiddink is already working on a way to combat Barcelona's attacking prowess without a recognised left-back. Ashley Cole's second-half booking in Tuesday night's astonishing 4-4 draw with Liverpool has left the Blues with a real headache when Chelsea meet the Spanish giants in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final at the Nou Camp in a fortnight. The club's decision to sell Wayne Bridge to Manchester City in the January transfer window and Paulo Ferreira's subsequent knee ligament injury have conspired, along with Cole's booking, to leave Hiddink searching within his ranks for a player capable of stopping Barca's Lionel Messi. "The left-back situation might cause problems but we have time to think how we might resolve it," said Hiddink. "Barcelona are a very advanced team with very skilful players. They know how to handle the pace. I like their philosophy of football."

Sir Alex Ferguson is convinced Saturday's win at Sunderland will prove to be a watershed in Manchester United's season. After sweeping all before them on their return from the Club World Cup in Japan, United have suddenly hit an alarming slump. Ferguson admitted goalkeeper Ben Foster made another mistake at the Stadium of Light. But it was the only thing that went wrong in a narrow 2-1 win at Sunderland that United's wily manager feels will mark the point in his side's season when confidence began to return. "It was a watershed," said Ferguson. "The back four played very well and restricted Sunderland to only a few chances because we dealt with their crosses terrifically. Ben is young and inexperienced but apart from that one mistake, the defence was very good. Hopefully from now on we will be fine."

Perhaps the most memorable time in the club's history was the treble-winning season of 1999 when they added the European Champions League trophy to the league title and FA Cup.

Chelsea briefly broke their league dominance with title wins in 2005 and 2006. But in the 2006/07 season, the Red Devils roared back to regain the Barclays Premiership.

The Premier League crown eluded them until 1998 - two years into manager Arsene Wenger's tenure - when they did the league and FA Cup double. Under the Frenchman, the Gunners shook off their "boring" image and began to play some of the most attractive football in England.

In eight of his 12 seasons at the club, Arsenal have finished first or second. And together with star players such as Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira and Dennis Bergkamp, Wenger took Arsenal to another "double" in 2002.

The Gunners reached the Champions' League final in 2006, becoming the first London team to do so, but lost to Barcelona. Their Barclaycard Premiership title in 2003/04 saw them become only the second team to win the league without losing a match - earning them the title "The Invincibles." Overall they went 49 matches unbeaten, which is a national record.

"There are seven games left which is about 20% of the season and we want to make the last 20% of the season as good as the first 80%.

"We want to make certain that we finish well and not leave a bad taste in our mouths by not keeping up that level of performance and allowing ourselves to relax.

"Even in games we've lost this season we've always been in there fighting and I am very anxious for that to continue."

Seventh spot and a place in next season's Europa League is now a realistic possibility, although Hodgson will not lose too much sleep if they fall just short.

"I think Europe will be something that just happens to one team," he added. "I don't think any of the teams who could finish seventh are saying they want to be in Europe. It's more a question of seeing how well we play the last seven games.

However, unless manager Mark Wotte can inspire his young side to a remarkable turnaround in fortunes, any penalty could prove academic for the club's survival chances this season.

Southampton are still two points adrift of safety with five games left and seem set to be plying their trade in League One - if at all - come August.

Teenage winger Kieron Cadogan scored on his debut to earn Crystal Palace a point in a 1-1 draw against Coventry.

The latest graduate from Palace's prolific academy had only been on the pitch for 12 minutes when he pounced on a defensive mistake, rounded City goalkeeper Keiren Westwood and tucked the ball into the net.Late goals from John Joe O'Toole and Arturo Lupoli decided a typically feisty derby, although there was still time for Barnsley to miss a penalty and score a consolation through Daniel Bogdanovic.

O'Toole, on loan from Watford, bundled home his first goal for the club in the 81st minute to keep the Blades' automatic promotion hopes alive and Arsenal striker Lupoli slid home the clincher six minutes later.

Liverpool have won two and Chelsea one of the clubs' recent battles in Europe, but the Blues won the most recent in last year's semi-finals.

Rafa Benitez's side won the 2004/05 semi-final, before the teams locked horns in the 2005/06 group stage. Liverpool then won the 2006/07 semi-final against Chelsea, who turned the tables under Avram Grant in last season's semis.

Wigan manager Steve Bruce's main concern as the season enters its final two months is preventing his players' focus drifting towards thoughts of their summer holidays.

The Latics are comfortably positioned in eighth in the Barclays Premier League, nine points clear of the relegation zone.

With safety all but mathematically achieved this season Bruce wants his squad to start thinking about pushing for a European place and not booking a European vacation.

A spot in next season's Europa Cup would have been much more of a reality had the club not gone eight matches without a win before last weekend's victory at Sunderland.

Manchester City manager Mark Hughes believes a number of his players can learn from the shining example set by Stephen Ireland.City midfielder Ireland has been in inspirational form this season after putting the controversies of recent years behind him to concentrate on his football.

The 22-year-old Irishman made more headlines off the field than on last season, most infamously after telling a white lie about the death of a grandmother.

Now those problems seem to be in the past and Ireland was again superb as City secured a place in the last eight of the UEFA Cup in Aalborg on Thursday.

"He is having an outstanding season," said Hughes. "We keep mentioning the season he is having but he is a guy that has a real drive and determination to have an impact on every game he plays.

"He is prepared to stand up and be counted and put a shift in for the team.

Les Girondins, meanwhile, travel to bottom side Le Havre, who appear doomed as they are 11 points adrift of safety with just 10 rounds of fixtures left.

Lyon welcome fourth-bottom Sochaux late on Sunday afternoon and, according to their defender Mathieu Bodmer, are still in the driving seat to claim their eighth successive title even though they have lost their last four matches in all competitions.

Fulham v Manchester United Live Streaming

Without a doubt, Barcelona are the team that most clubs will look to avoid. They appear to have got over their little blip and are in fairly barnstorming form yet again. Saying that, there’s never any point in looking to avoid any side in the Champions League because if you’re looking to win the thing you’ll have to beat the best anyway. Plus, we are the holders so we should have absolutely no fear in facing any side at all!

Onto the next topic; the away at Fulham on Saturday. Fulham (in the FA Cup) we beat them 4-0, with goals from Park, Roo and Tevez. After that match everyone was quick to say how unbeatable are and how they don’t even have to try to win anymore. This time, however, is different. Despite still being 4 points ahead of ‘Pool and Chelsea at the top of the EPL with a game in hand united should see this as something to prove. After being demolished by Liverpool last Saturday there have been immediate retractions regarding peeps’ statements about united’s invincibility. If united don’t win against Fulham then they’re be even more saying that we’re letting the title slip. In my opinion united need to win, and win big if only just to silence the naysayers.

I really hope we hammer Fulham and put the Liverpool game behind us. Because if we do beat Fulham convincingly we can put to bed the doubts and put down the Liverpool defeat as just an awful, tiny blip.

Tottenham Hotspur v Chelsea Live Streaming

The opponent will be fellow Billionaires Manchester City and, following United’s defeat on Saturday, this match represents a chance for Chelsea to remain four points adrift of the top (despite United’s game in hand).

Former Blues Wayne Bridge and Shaun Wright-Phillips return to the Bridge for the first time since their respective departures. You can bet both are eyeing stellar performances in front of the Chelsea faithful, especially Wright-Phillips who was never quite viewed with revere during his time at Chelsea.

The most prudent news for Chelsea is the possible return to the starting XI of Ricky Carvalho. The Portugese defender has been absent for a loooong time with a hamstring injury, but appears fit as fit can be. If he does return, it would be rather harsh on Alex don’t you think? I mean, the big man has his flaws but he’s performed admirably over the past month or so. Plus, how can you bench a guy with such a cool finish? I guess we’ll see.

The man we’d all like to see hit the bench … wait, there’s two actually. Get Michael Ballack and Florent Malouda out of my face. Unfortunately, neither will likely be benched. Then again, maybe Guus has had enough.

Newcastle United v Arsenal Live Streaming

Kickoff is real soon and I’ve been too busy to write up a proper review, so time for a few quick hits. First things first: this competition is the only legitimate chance Arsenal has for silverware this season. You can’t really argue with that — while they are alive and kicking in the Champions League I have a hard time believing, that they have a realistic shot of winning sans Arshavin and Cesc. That remains to be seen.

A semifinal awaits the winner and I’m hoping that Arsenal gets revenge over Hull, who if you recall, won at the Emirates in the league this season. While their magic fairy dust has worn off a bit and things aren’t as rosy as they were at the start of the year, Phil Brown will have his players ready to give Arsenal a real go of things.

Portsmouth v Everton Live Streaming

Everton maintained its five match unbeaten streak with a 3-1 victory over Stoke City at Goodison. The victory keeps the Toffees pressure on Arsenal with an immediate goal for winning a Europa League spot.

With the injury situation slowly clearing up, David Moyes was able to pull Timmy Cahill back into his more natural midfield position and use Jô as the lone striker. The plan worked to perfection early as the Toffees threatened early on. After a few closes misses Everton took the lead eighteen minutes in as the ex-CSKA Moscow man Jô sent the ball into the net as he received Marouane Fellaini’s, sans bushy man, cross. Only seven minutes later Joleon Lescott doubled the margin as got on the end of a rebound from a Timmy Cahill close range chance via Leon Osman’s cross. At the break Louis Saha came in for your favourite Aussie, Timmy Cahill and the current shifted heavily towards the visitors favour. Eight minutes after the restart Ryan Shawcross headed-in Liam Lawrence’s corner and it was “game on” as Everton’s lead was cut in half. Stoke was suddenly controlling play as the Toffees were now holding on as opposed to attacking. Time clicked down slowly and with five minutes remaining David Moyes looked towards Jack Rodwell to provide more stability in the midfield. Looking for the equalizer Stoke was exposed as they threw forward and with five minutes left Leighton Baines launched a long ball for Marouane Fellaini, which the Belgian neatly accepted he ball and sent it in for a final 3-1 victory

West Bromwich v Bolton Wanderers Live Streaming

As the in form Zoltan Gera will no doubt take his place on the right of midfield, it is the vacant left wing slot that’ll be the one to watch. The candidates are:

- South Korean international Kim Do-Heon is yet to make a start for Albion. Though naturally a central midfield player, the new boy is very highly rated by Mowbray and with an excellent record at international level, Kim has to be the favorite to deputize.

- Dutch under-21 international Sherjill Macdonald has just returned from a very successful loan spell at Hereford. With great pace, power, an eye for goal and the ability to beat his man, Sherjill could be an ace attacking option on the wing.

- England under-21 duo Ishmael Miller and Luke Moore are both at the club as strikers but have done a job on the wing in the premiership for Man City and Villa respectively. Should they be asked to fill in, both are more than capable of doing a job at this level.

Underestimate our injury ridden squad at your peril!!! These lads will all be desperate to impress and possess the quality to do so.

Blackburn Rovers v West Ham Live Streaming

At exactly 3.15pm on Saturday, Paul Ince must have felt like he was friendless and out in the cold. His Blackburn team were being ripped apart by a Wigan side who were playing free-flowing football, for arguably the first time at home this season.

It really wasn’t nice to see thousands of Blackburn fans throw their arms towards Ince with chants of ‘you’re getting sacked in the morning’. Fair enough, these fans had paid £30 to watch what was a shower of shite in the first half, but it is never nice to see someone lose their job, unless their name is Piers Morgan.

Wigan are now up to 9th in the league and with a bit of a break in the league, due to Manchester United embarking on their money spinning trip to Japan. Their next game is at home to Newcastle on Boxing Day. Win that and they really are on one hell of a roll.

One last point. There were many Blackburn fans in santa costumes at the match on Saturday, but they left early in the second half, when it was rumoured that Ince had got the sack.

Stoke City v Middlesbrough Live Streaming

Pompey went one up after 25 minutes despite long-throws causing a problem and Stoke would rue Kitson’s missed chance early on when Defoe picked up the ball and found Crouch who finished with a spectacular overhead kick. Stoke’s long balls were being picked up easily. Defoe looked desperate to score and had claims for a penalty turned away and rightly so as he lost his footing.

Fuller put in a typically committed performance and used his strength to scramble home an equaliser in the 48th minute stemming from a Rory Delap long-throw. It would clearly not be enough to steal a point however. Traore’s service to Defoe pointed to this as both he and Diop kept coming close. Simonsen did very well to keep out many of these efforts, depite getting booked in the process for a foul on Traore outside of the area.

It was not only Pompey that had a penalty shout however, Stoke had two of their own. Fuller latched onto the end of Michael Tonge’s ball through the centre before being brought down by David James as he attempted to take it around him. Fuller was also the man in the middle of the second penalty controversy as Sol Campbell appeared to fall on top of him. Yet again claims were turned away.
